  1. So just for my information, when exactly did “Hon är Flickan” come out as “Hon är Flickan” as opposed to “Hon gör allt för att göra mig lycklig”? Or is that the title people have just shorten it to, while “Hon gör allt för att göra mig lycklig” is the official title?

  2. Well, I am sure “Hon gör allt för att göra mig lycklig” is the official name of this song, but I don’t think it can be abbreviated as “Hon är Flickan”. Perhaps this song has two name, but I am not sure…

  3. By the way, how can I read the previous comments?

The last original song I found was “Even If The Rain”, sung by Flava To Da Bone. This was the original song of “老是一件令人回味的事”, written by David Eriksen, Sabri Kitmitto (NOT Sabrio Kitmitto), and Henning Hartung. Here, Sabri Kitmitto and Henning Hartung are the members of Flava To Da Bone.

  4. There are still couples of songs that I have no idea about their origination. They seem extremely difficult. I do want to find the original songs of “擁有” and “真愛”, but I failed. Wishes there will be someone who can furnish me some help ^_^

Again, it is my gratitude to David for his great work!

  5. I’m working on that issue. My PHP 5k1LLZ are not so L33T as they might say. I might even have to switch themes. This problem should be resolved by next Wednesday.

Also, for Sabri, I’ll leave the name as is, but cross out the extra “o”, since that’s how it was printed.

  6. Seriously, if only these artists would just come out, and be like, “Oh hey, ____ is my song, and ____ is the original for ____ artist!” It would be much easier. Sometimes, I get so desperate with this, as to think a song like “高! 高!” should simply be from a song with the title “Go! Go!” or maybe “Higher! Higher!”. Too bad.

Your words are too kind. This isn’t all my work. I just copy and take from other people, and then I put it all in one simple-to-access page. However in turn, other people take from me. I noticed some folks simply copy and pasted my entire table, and left it as is. As far as I know, I’m the first non-Hungarian guy to spell “Newton Family” with its original name of “Neoton Familia” on the web. Funny enough, NOW there’s a wiki page in English about them. Before, I had to make due with a Google translation of the original Hungarian wiki page. But these are all little things. Back to wiki pages though… Did you also notice that my entry for this page in the external links of the Chinese Jacky Cheung wiki page, was removed? I never even got approved for the English one either. Seems like the assholes have gone from the English-speaking world to the Chinese one. Gr…!

  7. 鉛筆小丁:
As far as 圈圈 goes, I’ll keep it on there for a bit more. I’ll definately have to look more into this before I decide whether or not to remove it. If it’s like the same as the case of 台北不是傷心地, I’ll definately be glad.

  8. “失戀事小” = WUZ↑B?’s “薔薇の正体” (What a name! “WUZ↑B?”, fortunately, they are also called Wasabi)

Several mistakes I found in your list:

The composers of “屈到病” (or “Let’s go band”) should be Andy Goldmark, George Lyter and Bruce Roberts (not Brock Walsh)

The composer of “高! 高!” should be Brock Walsh (not Danny Beckerman) (I also surmised that the name of this original song, or at least, the lyric, would contain the words “go go”. ^_^)

The composers of “左右為難” should be Andy Goldmark and Brock Walsh (not Danny Beckerman and Brock Walsh, in fact, I found that Beckerman and Walsh seldom cooperated with each other)

    Please check it

  9. You’re right. Even on the original jackets, it has the names you put down. Thanks for catching the mistake.

To be honest, I never liked that song 失戀事小, and after hearing 薔薇の正体, it doesn’t sound much better. But it’s good to know I can finally replace those ◯◯◯s.

  10. Hi 阿江,

I think you missed a few cover songs by Jacky:

    1. In the Smile album, “轻抚你的脸” is a cover of 罗大佑’s “穿过你的黑发的我的手”released in 1984.
    2. Also in the Smile album, “丝丝记忆” is a cover of 李恕权’s “每次都想呼喊你的名字” released as early as in 1984.
    3. In 相爱 album, the song “狂傲” might be a cover song since 見岳章 is a famous japanese composer.
    4. In 只愿一生爱一人 album, the song “夕阳醉了” should be a cover of 郑婷’s 谁想轻轻偷走我的吻 written by 童安格 for 郑。

You can go http://www.xiami.com for the three Mandarin songs mentioned above. : )

  11. 1. Album: 家. Cool!
    2. Album: 赤子. Got it.
    3. I’m pretty sure you’re right.
    4. There’s very little information on this singer, but I trust you in this case.

Xiami isn’t working out for me, so I’ll have to keep it with youtube, unless you have the song located somewhere else.

  12. I have bought the CD of Face Two Face and the EP of Sally, so now I can share “Celebration” and “夏の日の恋”. Please contact me if you need the mp3s. Thank you.

    My email address: hopeyearn@hotmail.com

  13. Well, I found some mistakes. The original song of 別戀 is not 夏の日の恋 but マイナーコード Heartbreak.

This is the link of this song:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jko_zzmJ164

Also, “Celebration” is not the original song of 日出時讓戀愛终结. According to JASRAC, it should be Face Two Face’s “あの夏の風”. So I think I have to buy another CD of this group. :)

  14. You’re right. mコードにHeartbreak is even identified as the original song in the wiki (I know scholars have issues with wikipedia, and such, but it’s a good enough source for me).
    http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/SALLY

Good luck on getting the CD. Where do you normally get it from? I try to buy the Japanese originals on Amazon, but sometimes, they want you to have a Japanese address. As for the non-japanese originals, it’s much more rare and harder for me to find. I honestly have no idea where to buy them. My only source would be to ask James in Hong Kong.

  15. I got “あの夏の風”, send me your email address if you like its mp3, thank you.

I sometimes contact with the Japanese shops which is able to ship their CDs to other countries, and also, I have Japanese friends and they may help me to buy some CDs.

  16. Hey guys, with this theme, I didn’t realize that it was trying to pull up the video in a flash window –But it didn’t work. Most of the time, I’d just open up the links by opening things up in a new tab. However, it’s been fixed, and this “new feature” of opening up the video in a flash window is now working. Sorry for not noticing sooner!

  17. I do the same as you do…want to find the original song!
but i also want to let you know that, all the songs in Album ‘Private corner’, are written FOR Jacky, rather than just change the language from the original!!

The song writer, Daniel Nitt and Roxanne Seeman were presented at the press conference as a proof.

so, don’t think you will ever find the so-called ‘original song’…
    as they are original!!
    cheers!!

  18. Although I had originally thought that the songs were written for someone else, I did do some fact-finding long ago, and know that the songs were written for Jacky. However, Jacky even made statements that somehow the Cantonese lyrics for some songs couldn’t match the feelings produced from the original English lyrics. Most of the songs were written in English by the composers, but they ended up being replaced by Cantonese lyrics. So while there isn’t an “original English version” of the songs per se, the songs were not written in Cantonese from the beginning. So with Jacky’s latest album, we’ve hit a grey area.

  19. Hi 阿江,

I have found two more originals of Jacky:

夜深 = El DeBarge – Private Line
梦里再爱一次 = Anders Widmark – Rock Me

    And we missed an original:

稀有品种 = 唱反调 (yet I haven’t found who was the original singer)

  20. 鉛筆小丁,

最近真煩,太忙. But my late discovery of your post is like a glimmer of hope. Thanks!

As for 稀有品種, I’ll have to leave that out for now until we can get more info. I’m assuming if it’s really some obscure artist, it could be someone from Singapore or Malaysia, just like 黃品源’s 小微 was originally 阿弟’s 小微 –or maybe I could be completely off.

*UPDATE (21:57): According to 稀有品種’s lyricist’s website, the song was made for Jacky. Plus, the lyricist is from Singapore.*

  21. Hey 阿江:

No problem la~ And great to learn the info on 稀有品种. Then I wonder from what source this site’s info comes:

    http://www.annie.ne.jp/~knkm/jfile/cd/cd4/02_2.html

Do you have this CD and if yes, could you check the booklet?

Actually I also somehow found the original composer of 爱因斯坦 was Kazuo Shiina (椎名和夫), but I couldn’t go any further. It’s quite possible that the song was an original work for Jacky (based on the copyright info).

  22. I don’t know where she got that info from, but I’d really like to know myself. I did check the booklet, and the info matches what everyone else says online.

As far as 愛因斯坦, it’s good to know the actual Japanese name for Kazuo. I checked the Japanese page for him (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%A4%8E%E5%90%8D%E5%92%8C%E5%A4%AB), and if the song would have been for Jacky, it should have said on there, so I think there has to be an original Japanese singer for that song.

  23. Hey 阿江,

For the 椎名和夫 song, I don’t think the wikipedia page has a complete list of his works, and the copyright info (©Intersong) indicates that in most cases it should be an original song (you can compare it with other songs in Jacky’s albums).

And I found that we missed one cover: 一颗不变心 = 黄品源 流浪的心

  24. I added the 黃品源 original, but give me a few more days to check up on the 椎名和夫 song. Because I know 渡辺茂樹 is the guy that 編曲. Granted, I’m well aware of 渡辺茂樹 behind many productions, even in Hong Kong, but I’d still want to try to investigate a bit further.

  25. Haven’t had much time to check after the first two days, but I give up. I crossed out that song, but if anyone DOES find anything, I’ll immediately put it on there.

  26. Hi,

Was reminded by a friend that we missed two more originals:

梦中的你 = 黄莺莺 梦中的你(周治平 has a self cover version as well)

等你等到我心痛 = 黎沸挥 等你等到我心痛(巫启贤 also sang this original version as well).

  27. U are awesome!! Just saw ur site and love what u are doing! I was searching for some of the original songs from Jacky’s old song and happened that i searched the right keyword and it brings me to you!!! Thanks!
