I’m not much of a football fan, but I’ll watch a game or two if it’s on. Unlike most sports fans, I don’t invest any time or emotion towards any team whatsoever. I was very surprised at how smooth and quick the game went. The thing I was most interested in though, were the Super Bowl ads. Not a whole lot of entertaining ads, but here are some of my favorites (Not in any particular order):

February 8th, 2010What Scholarships?
February 6th, 2010I haven’t seen any. Heck, every semester, I’ve had to pay out of my own damn pocket –despite being unemployed for over a year. The laughable one is the minority scholarship. Not because they’re for minorities, but then you have to major in some minority studies of some sort, or some other random major. So much for my degree in World Languages! (Heck, so much for being a minority with financial hardships. I suppose that’s another scholarship.)
I guess I can’t blame them, because it would be too long to call it “The scholarship for minorities, only if you’re majoring in these following subjects….”
I’ve found that most of these scholarships just take your information, and then sell it off to some other guy. Fuck this crap.
Better try for FAFSA again, and hope my paperwork doesn’t get lost this time.
Thank you Readers.
February 4th, 2010I noticed today that there is much more traffic to my website today. To be honest, there’s so much, that it resembles another viewership phenomenon. Yeah, that’s right. I’ve got another attack on my site. To those honest readers of my blog, or those who like what they’ve stumbled upon, thank you. I just wish there was more interesting stuff going on with my life lately, that you could read about. Hopefully in the future, good things will come.
For all you other people, well… You know how much you suck.
Spring 2010
February 1st, 2010Whoopdy-doo… School. This semester, it’s only going to be a bunch of cooking classes, a film appreciation class, and an accounting class. I really wanted to save myself some money on the accounting class, and knowing me, things can probably be condensed greatly. Oh well, I’m learning something I wouldn’t have the motivation to teach myself otherwise.
Oh yes, update on last semester’s situation: I passed everything on my own merit. I finished the entire semester’s homework for college algebra in 2 weeks, and then took all the tests for the entire semester 1 week at a time, without studying much for the tests in between (the best I did as cram the night before). I got a B out of the whole class. Not bad for finishing the entire semester in a little over 3 week’s time.
18JAN2009… Rainy Day
January 18th, 2010It’s been a while since I’ve had such a peaceful rainy day. This is the time to curl up in your Korean mink blanket and eat some spicy instant noodles (also preferably Korean ones). Best of all, it’s nice to occasionally go outside and get some fresh air, because I’ve been cooped up in my own apartment, researching how to draft up a business plan. It’s nice to have some friends over once and a while. The other day, we watched Public Enemies on Blu-ray, and I watched Invictus for the second time. The only thing that would make this much better, is if the people upstairs would move, so that their baby will no longer cry for no reason, and if my lent out DVDs and books would be returned to me. Being ignored really sucks.
At least I’m doing something productive… That’s right! BUSINESS PLAN!
IPod Miracle!
January 9th, 2010Yesterday’s incident with the IPod made me convinced that my IPod Touch was a goner. I started up the screen this morning, and it stayed stuck at the apple logo without moving anywhere. So I thought, “Yep! It’s dead!” and was going to give it to my younger sister. Maybe she could exchange it at the apple store, and get another one for a cheaper price. I’ll go buy a new one. So then we were going to at least retrieve the music off of it, even if it didn’t work. Then somehow, it actually started working while it was connected to the computer, and the damn thing was installing the drivers for it. So I decided to unplug it, and it worked for a while. Then, I tested my luck by turning it off, and then turning it back on unplugged. Yep, back to the apple logo. So, we plugged it in some more, and then came to the conclusion that you had to download some more useless software to retrieve the music –ridiculous. So we tried everything again, and this time, it actually came back, but the only thing that didn’t work was the speaker. So… Then I had to be the asshole and say, “Nope! No IPod for you afterall!”
Later that night, I was playing the music in my car, and along the way, the damn thing disconnected, which brought the speaker online again. So now it’s back to normal! I hope… We’ll see if any problems resurface some day…
Wet IPod
January 7th, 2010Yes, it sounds like a nasty porno, but it isn’t. Because someone in the family was cold from the 70-degree-unusually-warm-in-the-afternoon-but-40-degree-at-night weather, this person wanted to turn on the heater. However, the heater dehumidifies everything, so they decided to place a cup of water at the base of the heater, to add a bit of humidity. Coincidentally, where the cup was at, would also be the exact same spot my jacket would decide to slip off from high above, and rest upon.
Yeah, with my IPod in the pocket. And what does this person said “Oh yeah, just let it dry for a day, and it’ll be good to go, just like my phone!”. I honestly hope that will be the case.
Geez, and I thought getting a paper cut from scratching the corner of a DVD rack made of particle board was embarrassing as is. Now? Great…
Snapping Out of it.
January 4th, 2010So for the past year, I’ve been in and out of depressive moods. New Year’s Eve culminated with me saying some things to the ex, which ultimately will be as Jeff Chang’s “The Aftertaste of Love” says “useless”. Really, it’s not as if anything can be done about the whole thing, and we’ve been broken up for over a year. I’m just dwelling in the past, but it’s hard not to, when you just have a mind that tends to bring up a lot of old memories (the good and the bad). Funny, how when you try to forget a person, the more you end up remembering them.
Well, it’s a new year, and things are going to start getting busy for me. I’ll be going back down to LA in a day or two, and it’ll be nothing but work throughout. Once I get back, it’ll still be nothing but work. I’m not going to say whether things will get better or not this year, but Spring is coming, and it’ll be warm soon at least. I don’t make New Years resolutions, but one thing I always want to do every year, is be productive. Lately, I’ve been doing that pretty well, and I hope to continue this trend.
Tutoring.
January 4th, 2010Today, I met someone who couldn’t do basic Algebra, despite being tutored for another non-math class that requires it. I am well aware of the issues within California’s education system, as I have also grown up under it. However, I also know that in order for people to pass high school and to get into college, they HAVE to pass algebra –at least at the high school level, and once you get to college, algebra. Yet this person couldn’t understand the relations between fractions and division, what a variable’s functions were in an equation, or how to compute it’s value. It baffled me that she actually received a college degree already (Business Major).
I know I can be an asshole oftentimes, but… Well, I guess I’m just an asshole. This has convinced me that if I ever have kids, they will go to public schools to learn some basic social skills, and then when they’re home, I’m going to teach them what they SHOULD know. Playing around? No. That’s for “kids being kids”. I won’t raise “kids to be kids”, they’re supposed to know how to get through life, and as a parent, you should prepare them to get ready for society’s challenges. You’re don’t raise kids to be kids, you raise them so they can be productive adults who can contribute something to society.
