America, which has always been predicted to have is 2.5% increase in economic growth, looks like it’s slowing down, due to the subprime mortgaging loans. From 정책 이반자 to credit평과 기관, everyone’s lowering their predictions. From the international team, here’s Kim Ji-Roh.
“Hello! The NASDAQ took a plunge once again, is it a ripple effect of the subprime mortgaging loan?”
“The Dow Jones went down nearly 280 points, while the NASDAQ and Standard & Poor’s Index have both lowered by 2% and more. After this month past 16th, it was the lowest, and starting from the 9th, it was the steepest drop. The reason for the housing drop, is that consumer confidence fell by 7 points, during the mid-year. The sale of houses in the 2nd quarters, has been the quickest drop in housing sales within the past 20 years. The federal government will put out a report unexpectedly in August, on their market predictions.”
Since America’s economic situation isn’t looking to bright to the point that their growth rates have been lowered as well.
“Global Insight had this to say, ‘the 3rd quarter clearly shows _____, while the growth rate predictions for this year have gone from 2.1% to 1.9%. Official government estimates have even said that the light industries market won’t help the financial market in anyways. However, Brachs’ ____ has calculated the growth to go from 2.3% to 2.1% instead. Also, Federal Reserves Chairman, Mr. Bernanke also stated that due to the housing situation, economic growth will only slow by 0.5%.
But the situation in America’s financial center, Wall Street, still looks dismal. Doesn’t it?
Goldman Sachs economic growth predictions went from 2.9% to 2%, and yesterday, they’d put out that the housing bubble is at 15%. And, Meryll Lynch predicted that growth would not surpass the 1.5% mark. With all the subprime mortgages, the weakening housing market, and lay-offs, economists are worried about the reduction in consumption. The Mortgaging industry has already laid off 20,000 people, which is about 15% of the workforce in that industry.
With America’s economy slowing down this much, it’ll definitely affect our economy.
Yes, America’s slowing economy will directly affect our exports to them, and it will effect our financial markets. However, it shouldn’t be that big of an effect. The stock market in Korea has been greatly effected America stock market, but this has become something we can take in and learn from. Even though the New York Stock Exchange took a dive, it was a small-scale drop. And the slowing of the economy has been linked to what’s been going on at the beginning of the year. Actually, since the 2 quarter missed the 3.4% growth rate that was predicted, it’s seen that the scale of this situation could be much larger for America. So, it won’t effect our recovering economy that much.

올해 2% 중반인데 경제 성장율은 기록할 것으로 전망됐던 미국 경제가 섭 프라임 모기지 부실 사태 영향으로 침체 조짐을 보이고 있습니다 . 정책 이반자에서부터 신용 평과 기관까지 줄줄히 성장률 전망을 낮추고 있습니다. 국제팀에서 김지로 기자 나와 있습니다.
“안녕하세요. 오늘 뉴욕지수가 또다시 폭락했는데 섭 프라임 모기지 부실 사태 여파로 볼수 있는건가요?”
“뉴욕 다우지수가 280포인트 가까이 떨어 졌구요. NASDAQ과 Standard & Poor’s지수가 각각 2%이상 크게 떨어 졌습니다. 지난 16일 이후, 가장 최저 수준이구요. 지난 9일 이후 가장 낙폭을 기록했습니다. 이처럼 주가가 크게 떨어 진 이유는 소비자 실례지수가 무려 7포인트 떨어 지면서 연중 최저 좋겠다는 이었어요. 2분기 주택 가격이 지난 20년이래 가장 큰 폭으로 떨었다 소식이다가 올해 들어서는 미국 경제 전망을 얻게 8월 연방 공개 시장 의사외에 의사까지 공개되기 때문입니다.”
이렇게 미국이 전망을 어둡게 보다 보니까 성장 지수까지 낮추게 있어요.
“네, 그렇습니다. Global Insight가 발표했는데요: 3분기에 미국 성장이 현격히 둔화하다 있다면서 오늘 미국 경제 성장률 전망_, 2.1%에서 1.9%를 낮췄습니다. 미국의해 예상국도 금융시장 동류 경예 성장을 끌어 내지 않을 것이라는 비우적 낙관 전망을 내놓고 했지만 Brachs ____ 전망이 높다는 동점을 하면서 전망_ 2.3%에서 2.1%하향 조정했습니다. 또, Bernanke연방 준비재도 의장도 주택 부진을 반향해서 올해 성장률은 0.5%정도 낮췄습니다.
그런데 미국의 금융중심지 월가에서는 더 비관적으로 보인다구요.
네, 그렇습니다. Goldman Sachs가요… 전망_ 2.9%으로 to 2%아래로 낮출 정도를 이어서 어제는 미국 주택 가격이 15%이상 거품있다 이런 경고를 내렸습니다. 또 Meryll Lynch는 낸년이 더 문제라면서 내년 미국 경제 성장률이 1.5%정도의 불과할 것으로 내려 왔이다. 뭣보다도 subprime mortgage위기 이운, 주택 경기의 부진, 그리고 감원은 바람이, 소비위축으로 이어 줄 수 있는 우려 때문입니다. 현재 Mortgage업체 발표한 감원 규모는 벌써 2만명에 달했어요. 올해 신규 일자리에 15%달한다고 밝혔습니다.
미국 경제가 잃게 둔화 된다면 우리 경제도 영향을 미칠텐데요.
네, 미국의 성장 둔화는 그… 직접… 우리 수출 감소로 이어 질 수 있습니다. 그리고 우리 금융시장에도 영향을 미치게 됩니다. 그러나, 큰 폭을 안할 것이라는 전망이 우세합니다. 그 동안 우리 증시가 미국의 증시에 극나게 영향을 받기는 했지만 오늘 정도 큰 학습 경험을 한 상태 됩니다. 또 우리 증시 오늘 뉴욕증시 큰 폭낙을 불구하고 소폭 하락하는데 거쳤습니다. 그리고 이미 연초부터 미국 둔화는 예상이 됐었거든요. 사실 그 미국 경제가 2분기에 3.4% 하면서 오히려 전망 __ 넘어섰기때문에 지금 미국 둔화에 폭이 더 큰 것으로 착할 수가 있습니다. 그래서 회복세를 보이고 있는 우리 경제에 미치는 영향을 크지않을 것으로 전문가들은 내다 보고 있습니다.
